In the past week we have received email reports from sellers that overseas buyers are requesting funding via wire transfer for their birds, among other related Internet scams.
Whilst we take every precaution in providing warranted adverts here in the UK we have now been forced to monitor initial contact e-mails due to the misuse of the website.
We will also be employing other security software to the site to deter these "so-called" bird lovers.
We have displayed warnings throughout the most important sections of BirdTrade however here’s a brief list for your convenience.
Please apply these same rules to all other sites when buying an selling birds.
- Avoid all offered payments via Wire Transfer/Bankers Draft
- Buyers requesting shipment of birds
- Overseas contacts
- Request for Bank Account information
- Persuasive Sob story e-mails for FREE or Cheap birds
- Buyers contacting you trying to sell fertile eggs / unweaned chicks or anything other than your posted ad item.
- Advertising e-mails from other sites apart from birdtrade.co.uk
If you have received such scams please forward all incidents to: info@birdtrade.co.uk - all reports are treated very seriously.
The parties concerned will be reported to the relative authorities and banned permanently from our website, no questions asked!
Scammers DO NOT abuse this FREE service we record computer IP ranges!
On the rare occasion that an advert has slipped through our administrative team which you feel is a scam please contact us immediately.
